Widescreen plasma TVs are currently the home theatre thing but LCD (liquid crystal display) technology is the next big thing. Even though they are a little more expensive than plasmas, LCD televisions give a sharper image. However the downside is that the largest one currently available is only 40-inch (101cm). An LCD TV is very thin and light and therefore great to save space. Anyone who has an LCD monitor for their desktop computer will relate. Remember the large chunky one ones we used to all have? That is what a standard television set is like now. Along with great picture quality there is almost not static image burn-in problems because the fluorescent backlight is filtered by the liquid crystal in solid state.

I ran across a video that sparked my interest and I want to share my thoughts with you. I’ll briefly review the contents of the one minute clip from “Katie Couric’s Notebook,” which airs on ABC Nightly News.

Essentially, her musings are based upon the alarmingly high number of babies and toddlers that are consuming television, before they’re developmentally able to process what they’re seeing. What about your precious little ones? How much TV do they consume on a regular basis? What are they watching? Is it healthy? It’s important to know.
